1. Measure your closet. Measure the width, height and depth. Note any obstructions, including doors, windows and electrical outlets.

2. Inventory your wardrobe. Think about what you currently wear – and take this opportunity to wean out anything you no longer need. Donate any clothes you have not worn in a year. Note how much space you’ll need for:
